Our first major goal is to be able to secure enough funding from grants and donations to be able to provide the 105 families we serve with crockpots this holiday season! Our meal options are currently limited, because we are unsure which kitchen appliances our families have access too. If we can provide each family with a crockpot we will be able to send home new ingredients and recipes, offering more delicious and nutritious options to them! We may also be able to send home more nutritious meals as well, giving the children we feed a better chance at thriving. Everyone deserves a nice, hot, home-cooked meal, and we intend to make sure our families have that this holiday season!
We will also be hosting a NEW Fall Fundraiser this year that will allow more of our community members to participate. We will be hosting a car wash and smoked meats cookout in late October or early November. We would also like to let all of our supporters know that we have an updated email address (hcfood4thought@hastings.edu) and a brand new Instagram page (@hcfood4thought). Social media is an extremely important way for us to reach members of our community, so please consider subscribing or spreading the word.
Finally, we would like to introduce our new leadership team. Hazel Ashton, a sophomore majoring in psychology and nursing at Hastings College, is the director of Food4Thought for the 2019-2020 school year. Kelsa Stauffer, a junior majoring in marketing and digital design, has stepped in as our public relations coordinator. We are currently looking to fill the positions of volunteer coordinator and fundraising coordinator, and will introduce them as soon as they are on-boarded!
We appreciate all of the individuals and organizations that contribute to our cause, and would love to be able to include you all in our journey more often, so this blog will allow us to keep you updated about our goals, events, and endeavors throughout the year.
